Cool jQuery plugin…Spritely

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

Spritely jQuery pluginHaven’t tried it yet, but I will. I am generally not a fan of plugins, mostly because I am still learning, and want to know how to do things myself. But this is still freakin’ cool. It animates objects using sprites, html, and javascript. Best thing about this is that it is NOT flash. Here is a link to the plugin.

The crows that are flying around, plus the background, are all done using this plugin. The crows are 3 images on 1 sprite, animated in order. Really digging this, and I can already think of a few sites that I’ve done for work that I could have used this on.

3D Flash Slider….CU3ER!

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

I know these posts are too few, but I’ve had a lot to do. I’m entering a CSS contest over at css-tricks.com, redesigning THIS blog, learning jQuery, trying to learn PHP…whew. Not enough time, but I promise to do better.

Anyway, I saw this today while looking at a WordPress theme over at themeforest.net. I was reluctant to share this with you all, because I don’t think many know about this cool piece of flash. But…here it is.

CU3ER

What is this you ask? Watch the demo. It does crazy transformations to whatever images you want, which you list in the xml file. This thing is FREAKIN’ easy to use. Check it out.

JQuery for beginners….great video series

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

For those of you that are interested in learning javascript, especially the jQuery library, which seems to be used more and more these days, you will want to check out this video series. These are done by Jeffery Way, the editor of Nettuts+, and site manager for Theme Forest. I went through all of them, and they are some of the best tutorials I’ve ever seen. I learned a lot in a very short amount of time. Go check them out!

Cross Browser Testing….made easy

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

Here is an AWESOME link. It is a Firefox plugin, called Spoon. You can test in 3 versions of IE, FF, 2 of Safari, Chrome, and 2 Opera. It basically opens an instance of the browser(s) you click on. It is pretty sweet…I use it mainly for IE6 & 7, but with all those options, and no actually downloading of the physical browser, whew it makes things easy.

First cool link post

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

Ok, I’m actually going to give you 2 cool links in the first post…for cool links…

First up, Netvibes. A very awesome rss reader that is fully customizable. Trust me, you’ll love it.

And Evernote for the second. A very awesome note taking program that lets you sort notes into different notebooks, search things by tags, sync your desktop version with your online one. What is really cool with this is, if you have 2 computers, say a work and a home comp, take notes on the one at work, click sync. Go home start up Evernote at home, and click sync. And wallah, same notes appear. Great for lots of stuff.
