Free Give Away – Zerply Invite!

FREE STUFF!

Heard about Zerply yet? No? Follow the link and read the little bit they have there on the home page. You have to be invited to be a member, so I am giving away one invite to it. Leave a comment on this post, or on any other post (relevant to the topic of course) and I will pick the winner on Thursday. The winner of my previous give away is not eligible to win the invite for Zerply.

Paprika to get organized, Microdata, and ranting

Get organized

Paprika logo Let’s start with Paprika. I know in my post “Creating your own web dev tool kit – Part III: Apps that help” I told you about todotweet.com. It is still a great little twitter app, but I have found that Paprika suits me better. It is just another little note taker type thing that lets me create projects with to do lists in them.

As you can see from this little screen I have a project name of The Web Machine, an h1 tag that is the Things to do…, 3 tags (Design, Coding, and Articles), and something to do under each. Paprika is so easy to use, and along with the base amount of features that I want, I’ve made it my new to do list app. You do have to create an account, which is also stupid easy (like 4 fields to enter), after which they give you your own url. Login, and you are off.

Testing out jQuery Tools…pure awesome

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

jQuery Tools 1.2I’ve seen this site before, jQuery Tools – The missing UI Library for the Web, and I got a tweet about it again this morning. I was sick of getting links to it, so I decided what the hell, lets try this thing out and see what it does. It does some cool ass stuff, THAT is what it does!

And to make it even better, it is extremely easy to get things up and running. I tried out the Tabs – UI Tool, and the Tooltip (which you will see on the second pane). I have created a demo just to show you how easy it really is. They have demos of all of their tools on their site, with really easy to follow instructions for each to get them going. Go to the link above to check out all that it has available. But just to show you how freakin’ simple it is, here is a demo I did with the Tabs tool…took me less than 5 minutes.

Snippely – a little Air program for snippets

Friday, March 26th, 2010

Snippely - Snippet notepadI can’t remember where I go the link from the other day, but here is where you can get Snippely. As to what it is…well…not much. If you are not using Evernote, and you should if you are not, then I guess Snippely would be better than saving notes from notepad. Only slightly though.

I know this is not starting off well, but for some reason I had much higher expectations. A dumbed down version of Evernote. What is it though? Literally a notepad that saves all your notes in one place. There only 4 buttons: + (add a group), – (delete a group), Add code, and Add note. No copy buttons, or tags….nothing. But again, if you have nothing else, this would do the trick. Just don’t look for any bells and whistles.

Color Scheme Designer

Friday, March 12th, 2010

Color SchemeAnother cool link for you. A web app that will do a color palate for you. Pick a color, and it will create a color scheme in mono, compliment, triad, tetrad, and more. I struggle sometimes choosing colors for a design, and I think this will help a lot.

So check out Color Scheme Designer, and try it out. Very easy to use, and extremely well done.
