INSANE CSS trick…..INSANE I tell you!

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

This has got to be one of the coolest things I’ve seen in a looooooong time. This was a time consuming bit of cool that I can’t imagine wasting time on, when there has got to be an easier way to do this using javascript. BUT….recognition for this cat is due for doing it all in CSS…and not even CSS3! I freakin love it. I can’t think of another use for it other than what he is doing, but it doesn’t really matter.

Take a look!

JQuery for beginners….great video series

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

For those of you that are interested in learning javascript, especially the jQuery library, which seems to be used more and more these days, you will want to check out this video series. These are done by Jeffery Way, the editor of Nettuts+, and site manager for Theme Forest. I went through all of them, and they are some of the best tutorials I’ve ever seen. I learned a lot in a very short amount of time. Go check them out!

Zen Coding for Aptana….nice little plugin!

So, I’m finally getting away from Dreamweaver. There is no point to using it anymore anyway, since I never use the design view. Sure it does some things well, and it is for sure the absolute best WYSIWYG editors out there. I’ll use it for some things, but from now on, I’m going with Aptana. Its free and very customizable. I like the way it handles CSS and Javascript. You can create a new project and choose what js libraries you want to include into it. Very cool.

Its not very intuitive, and I’ve had to get a lot of help, but all-in-all, I’m diggin’ it. So, for those that actually already use it, this is for you.

Zen Coding is a nice little plugin with some real crap documentation. I only know how to do a few things with it so far, which I’ll let you know how to do.

First things first….get the plugin here (they have a ton of versions for different frameworks…including Dreamweaver.
